Associate AD - Compliance
Matt Fenley oversees all NCAA compliance issues for the athletics department and also handles financial aid, student-athlete housing and student-services as associate athletics director. During his tenure, Fenley has participated on many different campus committees, is a three-time member of the Southland Conference Compliance Committee and currently sits on the NCAA Progress Towards Degree Waiver Committee.
A native of St. Joseph, Mo., Fenley came to SFA in the fall of 1990 after serving nine years as assistant athletics director at Sam Houston State University.
During his time at Sam Houston, Fenley oversaw the athletic department's compliance program, supervised all athletic facilities and assisted in scheduling and fundraising.
Fenley has coached at the collegiate level at Pittsburg (Kan.) State University and Benedictine College. As a collegiate participant, he played in two football bowl games and went to a third bowl game as a member of the coaching staff at Pittsburg State.
Fenley holds an undergraduate degree from Benedictine College and a master's in education from Pittsburg State.
He is married to the former Sharon Hall of Lakewood, Colo., who is currently the Coordinator of Technology for the Nacogdoches Independent School District. They have a son, Tyler, who is a graduate of the Petroleum Engineering program at Texas Tech, and have twin grandsons, Holden & Brooks.
