Men's Hoops Falls At Texas-San Antonio, 84-75

SAN ANTONIO -- The Lumberjacks couldn't quite hang on down the stretchd Saturday evening in San Antonio, as UT-San Antonio rallied from a 39-37 halftime deficit to hand SFA an 84-75 road loss before 2,347 fans at the Convocation Center.
SFA led 39-37 at the half after shooting just over 48% from the field in the first half of play. The 'Jacks led by as manay as seven points with just over four minutes to play, but UTSA ralled to tie the score at 37-37 with a 7-0 run. Skip Jackson got a transition bucket with just one second remaining in the half following a steal to give the 'Jacks the lead at the half.
UTSA came out in the second half and took the lead on a Jon Havens three pointer about four minutes into the period and never relinquished the lead. The Roadrunners stretched their lead to as manay as 12 points, 75-63 with 5:03 to play, before the 'Jacks mounted a comeback of their own. SFA began a 10-0 run that cut the lead to 75-73 following two free throws by Skip Jackson. On the following possession, UTSA missed a long jumper but got the offensive board and put back that seemed to take the wind out of the 'Jacks sails. SFA never got closer than four the remainder of the way.
UTSA was 23-35 at the free throw line while SFA was 16-21, the difference in the game. SFA returns to action Thursday night in the coliseum, playing host to Nicholls State. The game is set for a 7:00 p.m. start and begins a stretch of four straight at home for SFA.
