
`Jacks Fall Two Spots at SLC Championships

CANTON, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack golf team shot a second-round 313 and fell two places to seventh Tuesday at the Southland Conference Championships at the Twin Lakes Golf Course. Lamar leads the way with a 592 after the first two days of competition.
Freshman Trevor Sauntry continues to lead the way for SFA with a second-round 74. Sauntry has shot a three-over-par 147 for the tournament. He remains tied for third place. Senior Jason Alexander is only four strokes behind Sauntry with 75-76-151 heading into the final day of competition. Alexander is tied for 14th. Senior Brent Gurley fell two-strokes off his opening round pace and currently has a 14-over-par 158. He is tied for 32 overall. Junior Walt Schroeder and freshman J.P. Landry are currently tied for 43rd with a 163.
The Lumberjacks return to the Twin Lakes Golf Course Wednesday for the final round of the Southland Conference Championships.
