Landry Leads Way For SFA Golf

The SFA golf team is in eighth place after day one of the Sam Houston State Bearkat Classic at Waterwood National, in Huntsville. The 'Jacks shot rounds of 308-307 on the opening day of play under ideal conditions and are within four strokes of fifth place UL-Monroe heading into the final 18 holes of play Tuesday.
J.P. Landry, a sophomore from Warren, stands in a tie for second place heading into the tournament's final day at two over par, 144. Landry is two shots back of tournament leader Sandy McClintock of Western Illinois. Landry opened the tournament with rounds of 72-72.
Trevor Sauntry is in a tie for 34th place after opening with rounds of 76-79, and is followed by Brian Grossman in a tie for 36th with rounds of 79-77.
Walt Schroeder shot an opening round 81 followed by a 79 and stands in a tie for 57th.
Rounding out things for the 'Jacks was Josh Price, a freshman from Marble Falls, with rounds of 86-81.
The tournament concludes Tuesday with 18-holes of play.
