Rain Washes Out Final Round Of Golf

HUNTSVILLE, Texas -- The final round of the Sam Houston State Bearkat Classic Golf Tournament at Waterwood National Golf Course was washed out today due to heavy rains in the Huntsville area. Oklahoma City University was declared the tournament champions with the Lumberjacks finishing in eighth place.
J.P. Landry posted his best ever finish as a collegiate golfer in the rain shortened event after posting rounds of 72-72 on day one. Landry finished in a tie for third place at two over par, 144, two strokes behind Sandy McClintock of Western Illinois and Yasin Ali of Oklahoma City University, who both shot even par 142 over the first 36-holes of play.
Trevor Sauntry, a sophomore from Sugarland, finished in a tie for 34th place after rounds of 76-79 Monday.
As a team, SFA shot rounds of 308-307 for the rain shortened event, and finished one shot back of seventh place Southwest Texas. The 'Jacks were only four strokes out of fifth place going into play today, but could not make up any ground due to the cancellation of the final 18-holes of play.
