SFA Hosts Texas-Pan American

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack basketball team will wrap up its longest home stand of the season Tuesday night with a game against Texas-Pan American. The contest is scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m. in the William R. Johnson Coliseum. SFA brings a 6-2 record into the contest, and the Lumberjacks have won their last three games. SFA is undefeated at home this season. Texas Pan-American is 2-8 on the season.
LAST GAME: The Lumberjacks dominated Paul Quinn College, 101-48, Saturday. Five different SFA players scored in double figures, led by junior forward Antuane Miller's 19 points. Two Lumberjack freshmen notched their first career double-doubles in the game. Forward Matt Kingsley finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds, and guard Josh Alexander added 13 points and 10 rebounds. The Lumberjacks out-rebounded Paul Quinn, 58-13.
VS. UT-PAN AM: The all-time series between the Lumberjacks and the Broncs is tied at 1-1. The teams split games in consecutive seasons in 1986 and 1987. Texas-Pan American won the first meeting, 81-78, and SFA captured a win the following year, 64-51.
THE BRONCS: Texas-Pan American brings a 2-8 record into its meeting with the Lumberjacks. The Broncs have suffered six straight losses and have yet to manage a road victory this season.
THE COACHES: Danny Kaspar is in his sixth season as head coach of the Lumberjacks. Including a nine-year stint as head coach at Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Kaspar is 301-118 (.718) over his 14-year coaching career. Kaspar has guided the Lumberjacks to an 82-66 (.554) mark during his tenure. Texas-Pan American coach Robert Davenport is in his second year as a head coach. He has compiled a 14-24 mark.
UP NEXT: SFA will travel to Denton, Texas for its final game of 2005 and last tune-up before Southland Conference play. The Lumberjacks are set to meet North Texas at the Super Pit. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m.
