The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis team looks to improve upon a 2-6 (.333) overall record and an 0-2 Southland Conference mark this afternoon when it hosts Texas-Arlington in a SLC match-up. Texas-Arlington enters Friday's match with a 4-2 (.667) overall record and a 2-0 league record. The match is slated to begin at 2 p.m., from the SFA Tennis Courts.
Recapping the Lady Cardinals The last time out the Ladyjacks lost a tough match to Lamar, 5-2. SFA was up 6-1 in the tie-break of the third and final doubles match and couldn't put the victory away, as Lamar rallied to win and take the doubles point. The Ladyjacks came back right back with singles wins from senior Ashley Johnson and junior Kama Scott. But the Lady Cardinals finished the afternoon taking four singles matches and the win.
Up Next ... The Ladyjacks will spend their spring break in Orlando, Fla., to compete in the UCF Spring Break Tennis Tournament. The Ladyjacks will play five matches in four days before returning to SLC competition. SFA will face Bucknell at 8 a.m., on Sunday and return to the court Sunday afternoon for a 6 p.m., match against Cleveland State. SFA will take on Radford Monday at 8 a.m. The Ladyjacks will close out the tournament with a doubleheader on Wednesday. SFA will face Rhode Island at 8 a.m., followed by a match against Bryant College later that afternoon.
