
SFA Tennis Struggles at Memphis State

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis team struggled in a weekend tournament at Memphis State posting a 4-12 singles score and going 2-6 in doubles play. Laura Harrison and Roxana Enica posted a 2-1 record in Flight 1 doubles action defeating Campbell University's number one duo, 8-5. Harrison and Enica then defeated Arkansas State's number one team 9-8 (12-10), before falling to Samford, 8-1.
In singles action, Laura Harrison defeated Samford's Anna Jackson, 1-6, 6-3, 10-8, but lost to Campbell's Blanca Saenz, 6-2, 6-3. Enica defeated Murray State's Casady Pruitt, 6-1, 4-6, 10-4, before falling to Arkansas State's Paula Chelminska.
Gaby Gadeva escaped the first round of Flight 2 play with a 7-5, 4-6, 10-4 win over Southern Illinois' Amanda Taillefer but was then stopped by Samford's Emily White, 6-4, 6-4.
Freshman Tatiana Smolnikova defeated Memphis State's Dara Toulch, 6-3, 6-4, but fell to Campbell's Ana Surviladze 6-2, 6-1.
Lauren Nowicki, Rijalda Zejnick, Mary Harrison and Niki Schoenauer were winless in singles play.
The Ladyjacks will close out their fall schedule Friday at the Louisiana-Lafayette tournament.
