
Ladyjack Tennis Receives National Recognition

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis team earned 2010 ITA All-Academic honors announced organization officials Friday morning. SFA was one of only three Southland Conference teams named to the prestigious list.
"I am proud of the team for focusing on their academics," said head coach Patrick Sullivan. "Our team culture promotes great work ethic on and off the court and with the incredible support that the girls receive from Amber Burdge and the rest of our administration, they are being put in a great position to succeed both in school and after graduation."
In addition to the team honor, the ITA also recognized Alina Shazkho, Andreea Enica, Meaghan Ocanas, Roxana Enica, Sanjana Kapur and Tatiana Smolnikova received ITA Scholar-Athlete honors. In order to be nominated student-athletes had to be a varsity letterwinner, maintain a 3.5 grade-point average during the current academic year and be enrolled at the current institution for at lease one full year.
SFA opened the fall season last week at the Mean Green Invitational in Denton, Texas. The Ladyjacks return to action Friday, Oct. 1 when they host the SFA Invitational at the Schlief Tennis Complex. Admission is free to all fans.
