
SFA's Ramirez and Women's Cross Country Team Recognized as USTFCCCA All-Academic Recipients

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Junior Kelsey Ramirez was one of just 166 individuals to be honored as a USTFCCCA Women's Cross Country All-Academic Team honoree, while the Ladyjacks team also received the team accolade for All-Academic performance, per a release from the USTFCCCA national office on Thursdsay. Ramirez was chosen for the honor thanks to a 20th place finish at the NCAA South Central regional meet back in November. Ramirez was one of three representatives from the Southland Conference on the women's side, along with a runner apiece from Abilene Christian and New Orleans.
A Kinesiology major, Ramirez was one of 166 athletes who met the criteria for the award. In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships.
The Ladyjack squad also earned All-Academic plaudits, as they combined to post a 3.35 team GPA, becoming one of 237 women's teams that received All-Academic honors in NCAA Division I. In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period.
