    HUNTSVILLE, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's track and field team came within seven points of sweeping the second annual SFA/SHSU Dual Meet Saturday in Huntsville, Texas for a second consecutive season. The Ladyjacks posted a 35-point victory, 111-76, while the SFA men lost by six points, 97-91. SFA combined for 21 individual titles and three relay victories. The SFA women posted 12 titles and swept both relays, while the 'Jacks won nine individual events and the 4x400-meter relay. Saturday's dual meet continued a remarkable run through 2012 indoor and outdoor seasons that has seend at least one school record fall in every meet.

    The Ladyjacks were led by several athletes who recorded multiple titles on the day. The team of Paige McCutcheon, Cierra Jefferson, Mary Dickerson and Lauren Watts won the women's 1,600-meter relay with a time of 3:46.75, while McCutcheon and Dickerson teamed up with Chelsea Stephen and Dar'Keisha Tryon to win the 400-meter relay (46.48).

    McCutcheon returned to the track to win women's 100-meter (12.23) and 200-meter (24.52) dashes. Stephen added to the Ladyjacks' advantage on the track taking the 100-meter hurdle title (13.76). Jefferson added an individual title in the 400 meters with her time of 56.50. Watts added an individual title of her own in the women's 400-meter hurdles crossing the finish line first with a time of 1:01.74.

    The Lumberjack distance squads dominated their events sweeping all three races at the 1,500 meters and above. Adam Saloom got SFA out to a quick start with his time of 5:55.46 in the 2,000-meter steeplechase. Jonus Rodriguez followed suit with a time of 4:00.90 to win the 1,500 meters. Moses Luevano capped the sweep with a time of 8:38.34 in the 3,000-meter run. Luevano's time was good enough to set a new school record.

    The 'Jacks' team of Hampton Hawkins, Torin Crowder, Glenn McQuinney and Cass Brown won the men's 1,600-meter relay with a time of 3:14.96. The victory was one of two for McQuinney and Brown. McQuinney took top honors in the men's 400 meters with a time of 47.84, while Brown won the 200-meter dash (21.26).

    SFA also dominated the field events as well winning nine of the 16 events. The women won five of the eight field events, while the men posted four field victories.

    SFA returns to action Friday, Mar. 23rd, when they will travel to Houston, Texas for the Rice Bayou Classic.
