The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's track and field finished off a second strong day at the Texas Relays Friday by recording three top-10 finishes. Junior Colton Ross led the 'Jacks effort by clearing a height of 18-1.00 in the pole vault to finish tied for seventh.
The 'Jacks 1,600-meter relay team of Hampton Hawkins, Torin Crowder, Shawn Goff and Cass Brown-Stewart clocked a time of 3:10.41 to finish fifth in the preliminaries and advance to the finals. Hawkins, Brown-Stewart, and Crowder were joined by Nick McCloud in the 400-meter relay to run a 41.58 to finish 20th. McCloud returned to the track in the 110-meter hurdles to record a time of 14.46. He was 22nd overall.
Freshman Bria McIver and sophomore Stephanie White competed in the women's 100-meter hurdles. McIver ran a time of 14.55, while White posted a 14.83. Sophomore Madison Johnston recorded one of the best javelin throws of the meet. She finished eighth with a mark of 147-8. Junior Jamal Peden closed out the day for SFA with a jump of 24-1.50 to finish 11th in the long jump.
