    SFA Multis Finish Strong at Sam Houston State

    The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's track and field teams opened a busy weekend Thursday night with the first day of competition at the Sam Houston State Multis competition. SFA finished the two-day meet with four top six finishes, including Cody Rhodes' runner-up finish in the decathlon.

    Rhodes scored 6,427 point to finish second overall in Huntsville to edge out teammates Jamal Davis (6,055 points/4th) and John Park (5,664/6th). Davis also had a strong meet finishing second in the 100-meter dash, long jump and shot put, while Cody Rhodes finished second in the pole vault.

    Junior Shambrail Woods finished third in the women's heptathlon with her score of 4,382 points. Woods posted strong finishes in the javelin, shot put and long jump. She won the javelin with a throw of 102-5, while she had runner-up finishes in the shot and long jump.

    SFA returns to action Saturday when they host the Skechers-SFA Alumni Invitational at Fletcher Garner Track.
