    SFA Track and Field Heads to Different Destinations

    WALNUT, Calif. - The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's track and field teams have split their squads between the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., and the Michael Johnson Invitational in Waco, Texas this weekend. Several members of the SFA track squad got the action started Thursday evening at Mt. SAC.

    Three members of the distance squad competed Thursday evening on the west coast but it was senior Mary Dickerson who had one of the strongest performances. The Groveton, Texas, native clocked a time of 53.62 to place second in the event.

    SFA had several distance runners compete Thursday evening. Junior Lauren Smith just missed a top-10 finish in the women's 10,000 meters. She recorded a time of 35:57.75 to finish 11th overall. Senior Dennis Yeats competed in the men's 10,000-meter run and recorded a time 31:01.51 to finish 15th overall. Classmate Randi Plentl recorded a 13th-place finish in the women's steeplechase (11:09.34).

    The rest of the SFA squad will open the Michael Johnson Invitational Saturday in Waco, Texas.
