Brown-Stewart Advances in 400 Meters

Junior sprinter Cass Brown-Stewart advanced out of the opening rounds of the men's 400-meter dash on the opening day of competition at the NCAA West Preliminary meet in Austin, Texas Thursday. Brown-Stewart clocked a time of 46.45 to finish 13th overall, and advance to Friday's quarterfinals.
Junior Jamal Peden was the first SFA athlete to compete in Austin. Peden recorded a mark of 23-6.75 in the long jump, but was unable to advance finishing 36th overall. Classmate Joshua Taylor was the first SFA athlete to step on the track. He clocked a time of 54.92 to finish 45th overall.
Sophomore Brarysheyia Simpson was the first Ladyjack to step on the track. She clocked a time of 11.92 to finish 45th overall.
The SFA men's and women's team returns to action Friday for the second day of competition at the NCAA West Preliminaries. Senior Nick McCloud kicks off the action for the 'Jacks at 5:30 p.m. with the first round of the men's 110-meter hurdles, followed by senior Jon Arthur who will step in the circle for the shot put. Arthur enters the meet ranked third nationally in the event.
