SFA Track and Field Closes Out NCAA Regional Meet

AUSTIN, Texas - AUSTIN, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's track and field team had several athletes compete Saturday at the NCAA Championship Preliminary rounds in Austin, Texas, but failed to advance to the NCAA Championships.
Sophomore Chelsea Stephen advanced to the second round of the women's 100-meter hurdles, but placed 26th overall in Saturday's heat.
Sophomore Clint Harris finished 25th in the discus throw with his mark of 170-6 in the event. Junior Kelli Hermes knocked off several competitors who were ranked ahead of her heading to the competition. She recorded a mark of 40-3.50 and finished 30th in the region.
The Ladyjacks team of Paige McCutcheon, Olivia Harris, Dar'Keisha Tryon and Brarsheyia Simpson recorded a time of 46.39 to place 21st in the 400-meter relay. The Ladyjacks 1,600-meter relay team (McCutcheon, Cierra Jefferson, Luaren Watts and Mary Dickerson) closed out the event with a 17th place finish (3:40.28).
