SFA sets four school records in A&M Invitational.

The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's track and field team set four school records Saturday in College Station, Texas, at the Texas A&M Invitational to open the 2012 indoor season. The SFA women set new records in the 1,600-meter relay and the mile run, while the 'Jacks set marks in the triple jump and 3,000-meter run.
Junior Lauren Smith clocked a time of 4:55.00 to finish second in the women's one mile run. Smith finished less the five seconds off the championship pace. The team of Paige McCutcheon, Cierra Jefferson, Brarsheyia Simpson and Mary Dickerson clocked a time of 3:43.18 to finish third overall to set a new SFA standard.
Junior Xavier Rodriguez posted a fourth-place finish in the men's 3,000-meters and set the new school record with his time of 8:24.79. Sophomore Jamal Peden recorded the final school record by winning the triple jump with a mark of 50-11.00.
SFA will take a week off before returning to action Friday, Jan. 27, at the Houston Invitational in Houston, Texas. The invite is a two-day meet that will run through Sunday.
