    NACOGDOCHES, Texas –
After opening the indoor track and field season in Houston last weekend, the Stephen F. Austin team is headed to College Station for the Texas A&M 12-Team Invitational on Friday. The Lumberjacks and Ladyjacks will take on a number of teams from the area, including a handful of fellow Southland Conference members.

The meet will be a team scored meet with points attributed similar to championship meets. Action is set to start at noon with field events and running events at that time. SFA will be up against Houston Baptist, Lamar, Northwestern State, Prairie View A&M, Sam Houston State, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas Southern, UL-Lafayette, UT-Pan American and UL-Monroe. Host Texas A&M will not be competing in the meet, only serving as host as the Aggies are scheduled to compete in another home meet on Saturday.

This week SFA will again take the majority of its roster to the meet with a limit of three entries per individual event. Three of the Lumberjacks’ top men’s distance runners will be making their season debuts as well.

Nick Guerra and Cody Brown are set to start their campaign in the 3,000 meters with Anthony Gallardo running the 5,000 meters. Gallardo was the Southland Conference Cross Country Freshman of the Year this fall.

A week after breaking her own school record in the 60 meters, Brarsheyia Simpson will be back in action. The sprinter ran 7.48 seconds in the 60 meters at the Houston Indoor Opener, shaving .06 off her previous best. She and a number of the other SFA sprinters will be on the track.

Fans can keep up with the action online to see how the Lumberjacks and Ladyjacks stack up against teams from the Southland, Sun Belt, SWAC, Conference USA and WAC. Live results will be provided at flashresults.com. Updates will also be available on Twitter.

Tickets to the meet are range from $4 for general admission to $15 for reserved seats near the finish line.
