SFA Track and Field Travels to Rice

HOUSTON, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin men and women's track and field team will be in Houston, Texas Friday and Saturday to compete the Rice Bayou Classic, which will be held at Rice Track. The meet is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., with the men's javelin throw finals, immediately followed by the women's javelin finals. The track events are slated to begin at 7:40 p.m., with the men's 1,500-meter final.
A Look Back at Last Week ... SFA had a productive trip to Baton Rouge, La., last week at the LSU Relays and Multi Event. Senior Jocelyn Stevens won the 400-meter hurdles with her time of 1:00.96, just missing an NCAA regional qualifying mark by 14-hundredths of a second. Sophomores Markeisha Edwards and Sarah Emerson set an NCAA regional mark in the shot put and javelin, respectively. Sophomore Darwin Johnson improved upon his own school record in the hammer throw (164-8).
Up Next ... SFA returns to action Wednesday when it travels to Austin, Texas, for the Texas Relays. The meet is a four-day event that will run through Saturday Apr. 9.
