April 11, 2013
Junior pole vaulter Colton Ross has been named second-team All-America for his performance at the 2013 NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., last month announced the NCAA.
A three-time All-Southland Conference selection, and a former conference pole vault champion, Ross cleared a height of 17-4.50 in the event at indoor championship meet to finish 15th overall. Ross was one of only two Southland vaulters to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships, and he was one of two Lumberjacks to compete in the meet.
Ross helped guide the Lumberjacks to their first Southland Conference Indoor Championship title since 2005, when SFA rallied in the final three events to knock rival Sam Houston State by less than five points.
Ross becomes the seventh All-American produced by head coach Phil Olson during his 14-year career. He is also the first Lumberjack to earn All-America honors in the pole vault since Adam Keul received the honor in 2002.
