NACOGDOCHES, Texas -
Two Stephen F. Austin track and field athletes have been named to a national award list for their success in the classroom. Senior distance runner Adam Saloom and sophomore sprinter Joshua Taylor have been named to the 2013 USTFCCCA All-Academic team.
Both Saloom and Taylor played key roles in helping the Lumberjacks record one of the best seasons in school history. SFA swept the Southland Conference Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field titles this past season.
Saloom has been one of the league's top distance runners over the course of his career. A two-time conference steeplechase champion, Saloom closed out his career by winning one title, and earning three all-conference honors.
Taylor is one of the league's top rising stars. Just coming into his own during the 2013 campaign, Taylor made a splash at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in June. After earning SLC runner-up honors in the 400-meter hurdles, Taylor returned to the track to help the 'Jacks win the 1,600-meter relay. That relay team went on to earn third-team All-America honors.
