NACOGDOCHES, Texas -
The Stephen F. Austin men and women's track and field teams handle the sales of football game day programs at Homer Bryce Stadium. The track and field team uses half of the raised funds to support the East Texas Food Bank. SFA track and field letterwinners Christian Donald, Isiah Collins and Dennis Yeats met with the manager of Brookshire Brothers on University Drive Wednesday afternoon to make a donation.
"Nacogdoches is very important to Coach (Phil) Olson and his family," said assistant track and field coach Ron McCown. "He presented the idea to our team at the beginning of the year, and we all fully supported it. Coach Olson really cares for the campus, and the Nacogdoches community."
The mission of the East Texas Food Bank is to reduce hunger by providing food, support and education to those in need with passion and efficiency. The SFA track and field team will open the 2011 season shortly after returning from their Christmas break. SFA opens the season Friday, Jan. 14 at the Leonard Hilton Invitational.
