NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Sophomore Stephanie Ganter and junior Amy Shackelford have been named 2010 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District announced CoSIDA Thursday afternoon. Ganter earned first-team honors, while Shackelford was named to the second team.

The Ladyjack duo has been a key factor in helping guide SFA to consecutive Southland Conference Indoor and Outdoor titles. The Ladyjacks closed out the 2010 season by setting a new conference record for points at the outdoor championships (201).

A former conference indoor champion, Ganter earned All-SLC honors in three events during her sophomore season. An eight-time all-conference selection, Ganter recorded one of the best freshman seasons in SFA and conference history, becoming the only athlete in SLC history to earn freshman of the year honors in cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field.

Shackelford is a five-time All-Southland Conference athlete who won the 2009 SLC Outdoor title in the 5,000 and 10,000-meter runs. She closed out last season by receiving the SLC Student-Athlete of the Year honor.

To be nominated for the award, athletes must maintain a 3.3 grade-point average, and be a starter or significant reserve. Athletes must also have reached sophomore status at their respective institution.
