NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's cross country teams will head to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for the Crimson Classic Friday, Oct. 18 at the Harry Pritchett Running Park. The women will compete in a 5,000-meter run beginning at 5:00 p.m., followed by an 8,000-meter run for the men at 5:30 p.m.
Both teams will run in their first meet since the OSU Cowboy Jamboree Sept. 28. In the meet, the Ladyjacks were led by a 23rd place finish by junior Laurie Byrd, while the men were highlighted by freshman Colby Mehmen, who took 29th.
The Ladyjacks will be one of 27 teams running in the event, including Alabama (host), Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Auburn, Belmont, Davidson, Florida State, Georgia State, Houston, Jacksonville State, Louisiana-Monroe, Loyola-New Orleans, LSU, Mississippi, Sam Houston State, Samford, South Alabama, South Florida, Southern Mississippi, Stillman, Tennessee, Texas-Arlington, Troy, Vanderbilt and West Alabama.
The Lumberjacks are one of a 24-team including Alabama (host), Alabama State, Auburn, Belmont, Florida A&M, Florida State, Houston, Jacksonville State, Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana Tech, Loyola-New Orleans, LSU, Mississippi State, Mississippi Valley State, Rice, Sam Houston State, Samford, South Alabama, South Florida, Stillman, Texas-Arlington, Troy and Vanderbilt.
Team scores will be calculated by totaling the top five runner's finish position in the field. The sixth and seventh runners will count as pushers, while any additional finishers will not impact their team score. Teams with less than five finishers will not be totaled in team scores.
