NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- The Stephen F. Austin State University cross country team will head to Denton, Texas for the South Central Regional cross country meet, Saturday, November 11. The women will be running a 6K race starting at 9:00 a.m., while the men will be running a 10K race starting at 10:00 a.m. The meet will be held at the Eagle Point Golf Course.
Teams from Arkansas, Texas and Louisiana will be at the November 11 meet. The top two teams from each of the nine regions across the United States and 13 at-large teams will be chosen to compete at the NCAA Championship cross country meet Monday, November 20, in Ames, Iowa. In addition to teams being selected for the championship meet, the top four individual runners from each regional meet, not on a qualifying team, will be chosen for the NCAA Championship meet.
Coach Alex Gibby and his team qualified after competing at the Southland Conference Championship cross country meet held on Monday, October 30, at the Pineywoods Country Club in Nacogdoches, Texas. The Stephen F. Austin men's cross country team will consist of freshmen Nathan Flores and Justin Meier and juniors Daniel Bledsoe, Trenton Hall and Rhett Hansen. Freshman Ana Rodriguez and sophomore Ana Gonzalez will represent the SFA Ladyjacks. They will be running independently.
