    NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack baseball team completed the series sweep of Arlington Baptist, shutting out the Patriots 9-0 in game one and winning 13-2 in eight innings in game two, in a doubleheader Saturday at Jaycees Field.

    SFA (7-7) recorded 24 total hits across both games, highlighted by senior Ricardo Sanchez. The Houston native picked up five hits in the doubleheader, finishing four-for-five, with three runs scored and a RBI in the first game and one-for-four, with a double, RBI and run scored in the series finale. Joseph Olson was three-for-five with an RBI and run scored in game two on the day, while Max Lamantia and Rene Moreda each finished two-for-three.

    Seven different batters for the 'Jacks recorded a hit in each game, with multi-hit performances from Jordon Lenaburg, Jordan Camel, Freddy Villalobos, Sanchez, Olson, Lamantia and Moreda.

    SFA saw strong pitching performances in both games, with starters Kyle Cross (2-0) and Cameron Gann (1-2) each picking up the win. Cross scattered three hits in his first complete game effort. The Pearland, Texas, needed just 81 pitches to go the distance, fanning one and issued no free bases in the game, Gann picked up his first win of the season, surrendering two runs on seven hits while his seven strikeouts came one short of his career high.

    Brett Higginbotham shut the door in the closing game, recording three strikeouts in a scoreless inning and a third.

    The sweep over ABC (2-15) gives the `Jacks a four-game winning streak going into two mid-week games over Spring Break. SFA will play Dallas Baptist Tuesday, Mar. 12, before taking on Grambling State on Wednesday. Both games will be played at Jaycees Field.

    Cross retired his first 12 batters faced to open the game, before the `Jacks were able to get on the board in the bottom of the fourth. With two outs, Sanchez singled into the right center gap to score Zach Benson from second. Following a hit by pitch to Lenaburg, an infield error at third base scored Sanchez. Camel, who reached base on the error, scored one play later on an error from the catcher to make it 3-0.

    A four-run fifth put the game out of reach, as the `Jacks opened the bottom frame with singles from Villalobos, Sanchez and Lenaburg, before a Camel double to left center delivered all three. Camel scored two batters later on a RBI groundout from Brett Thornell.

    In the sixth, Sanchez scored for the third time of the game, on a double into the left center gap from Lenaburg.

    One inning later Villalobos delivered Michael Ruiz on a single to left field to arrive at 9-0 shutout.  

    SFA 13, ABC 2 (8)

    Gann mirrored Cross, retiring his first six batters faced to open the game, as SFA took a 1-0 in the bottom of the second. Mackenzie Handel and Olson singled to open the frame, before an error and walk to Gevon Jackson loaded the bases. Moreda delivered Handel one batter later on a single through the right side to take the early lead.

    The `Jacks added another run in the bottom of the fourth on a sacrifice fly from Villalobos. Thornell singled to the shortstop, before a Jackson walk and sac bunt from Moreda put runners on second and third.

    SFA took advantage of a leadoff double from Lamantia and two ABC errors to load the bases with no outs, before Villalobos again deliver on a sac fly to make it 4-0.

    The `Jacks scored nine runs acorss their next three trips to the plate to claim the 13-2 run rule after eight innings.
