NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The UALR Trojans exploded for eight runs in the first two innings and cruised to a 10-4 win over Stephen F. Austin on Tuesday at Jaycees Field.

UALR (11-14) got a grand slam from Chris Burk and a solo shot from Sam Vogel in the first inning, giving them all the cushion they would need to register just their second win in its last 13 games.

The win snapped a modest two-game win streak for the `Jacks (11-13) and negated a stellar night from Hunter Dozier, who extended his hit streak to 10 games with a 3-for-4 night that included a walk, two doubles, three RBI and his fifth homer of the season.

Freshman Chris Hassold got his first start of his career and shouldered the loss, allowing all eight runs - seven earned - in just 3.0 innings of work. Chad Bradford upped his record 2-2 with the win for the Trojans, fanning three and allowing just three runs in 6.1 innings.

The Trojans pounded out 11 hits, but were also able to take advantage of 12 walks from six Lumberjack pitchers on the evening.

The Trojans got off to a fast start with each of the first five UALR hitters reaching base, getting an RBI single from Myles Parma one batter before Chris Burk lofted a grand slam over the left-center field fence. Three batters later, Sam Vogel gave the Trojans a 6-0 advantage before SFA's first at-bat with an opposite-field solo homer to right.

The lead quickly went to 8-0 one inning later when a fly ball from Burk was misplayed in right field, allowing two more runs to cross.

SFA finally got on the board in its half of the third when Dozier rifled a slicing two-run homer out just to the right-field side of the batter's eye off of Bradford. But the Trojans got that run back quickly on an RBI single an inning later from Vogel.

One inning later SFA got its final run on a pinch-hit double from Rene' Moreda in the bottom of the eighth plated Ricardo Sanchez.

SFA will open up a three-game league series on Thursday against defending Southland Conference champion Sam Houston State. First pitch on Thursday is slated for 6:30 p.m.
