NATCHITOCHES, La. - Cameron Gann tossed his second consecutive complete-game and Jarid Scarafiotti became the all-time RBI leader at SFA as the `Jacks took an 8-2 win over Northwestern State in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Saturday at Brown-Stroud Field.

Scarafiotti finished with three hits and a fifth-inning RBI that pushed him past Steven Hill for the all-time Lumberjack RBI mark with 118 for his career, while the `Jacks (12-14, 5-5 SLC) claimed their fifth win in their last six tries.

Gann moved to 3-0 on the year with the win, throwing 125 pitches - 31 in the ninth inning alone - and scattering six hits to go with three strikeouts and three walks in the win. He is the first pitcher in SFA recorded history to have picked up complete-game wins in consecutive games.

Freddy Villalobos, Hunter Dozier and Rory Myers all finished with two hits apiece, but it was Bobby Loveless' two-run triple that broke the gave the `Jacks a lead they would not relinquish.

The `Jacks left the bases loaded in the first inning, and fell behind in the bottom of the second inning when a pair of singles to open up the inning got Gann in trouble and a grounder from shortstop Matt Burns brought in Nick Doughty to put the Demons in front 1-0.

But that lead was short-lived as Gann settled in and SFA scored in three straight innings to take the lead, beginning with a four-run fourth inning. Ricardo Sanchez started it off innocently enough by beating Bear to the bag for an infield single, but after a single and walk loaded the bases with none down, a wild pitch scored Sanchez to knot the score. One batter later Bobby Loveless gave SFA the lead with his first career triple, a shot off the right-field wall that plated two more runs. Loveless then put SFA up 4-1 when he scored on a double-play ball off the bat of Bryce Cummings two batters later.

Scarafiotti then broke the RBI record one inning later, bouncing a 2-0 pitch over Ryan Westbrook's head at third base and then beating the throw to second for an RBI double that scored Freddy Villalobos to push the lead to 5-1 after Villalobos had reached on an error.

Consecutive hits from Myers and Cummings started another scoring inning in the sixth, with each coming in to score on RBI outs from Rene' Moreda and Villalobos, and the `Jacks made it 8-1 one inning later when a Demon error sparked a two-out rally that finished in a bases-loaded walk from Moreda.

That was plenty for Gann, who did not allow a hit from the sixth through eighth innings until Nick Doughty shot a single up the middle with one down in the ninth. Northwestern State eventually got a run in on a fielder's choice from Drew Helenihi, but Jordan Buckley flied out one batter later to close out Gann's second complete-game effort of the season.
