NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack baseball team was held to one run for a second consecutive game, as Oral Roberts claimed a 7-1 victory to pick up the series win on Saturday afternoon at Jaycees Field.
SFA (15-19, 6-8 SLC) was held to five hits, as no ‘Jack was able to turn in a multi-hit performance against the Golden Eagles (18-16, 6-8 SLC). Senior Brett Thornell turned in the only extra base hit for SFA, doubling to open the bottom of the third inning.

ORU plated three unearned runs to open the game and added two in the top of the fifth to take a 5-0 lead on SFA.
After Fikes walked to open the bottom of the seventh, senior Zach Marberry drew a walk to put two on with one out, before Sanchez’s single up the middle made it 5-1.
The Golden Eagles responded however, scoring two more in the top of the ninth to arrive at the 7-1 final.
The ‘Jacks will try and avoid the series sweep in a 11:00 a.m. first pitch, sending senior Kevin Bishop to the mound opposite ORU’s Pepe Gomez.
