SFA To Take On No. 4 Aggies
Feb. 20, 2012
Game Notes & What To Watch For:
- Sophomore shortstop Hunter Dozier opened 2012 with a bang, going 4-for-6 in two games of the Lamar Classic, including a two-home run performance in Sunday's loss to Portland. Dozier, who hit five homers as a freshman in 2011, finished Sunday's game 3-for-4 overall with long balls in each of his last two at-bats to become the first Lumberjack since 2010 to hit multiple home runs in a game.
- Bobby Loveless made his return to the ‘Jacks over the weekend after sitting out the entire 2011 season due to injury, Loveless was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Sunday's loss to Portland on Sunday. His homer was his first since May 8, 2010 at UT Arlington. His last time to College Station was a memorable trip, cranking a home run in the top of the third inning that capped a seven-run, two-out burst that propelled SFA to a 7-6 win over the Texas A&M.
- SFA has won two of three home openers under Johnny Cardenas, and five of six overall since bringing back the program in 2006. Wednesday will mark the second time in three seasons that SFA has opened up its home field vs Grambling, doing so in 2009 when it went on to sweep the Tigers in a weekend series.
