The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack baseball team will face the Dallas Baptist Patriots Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. at Jaycees Field. SFA will look to move its overall record back to .500 as it sits with a 13-14 record. DBU is coming off a 16-3 victory over Sam Houston State last night in Dallas and holds a 16-12 overall mark.
The Lumberjacks are 2-4 in their last six games with their last win coming Sunday versus Lamar with a score of 6-3.
Steven Hill is leading the 'Jacks with a .378 batting average. He is 12-for-15 in his last four games played. Against Lamar, the Houston, Texas, native batted .778 in the three-game set after going 5-for-5 on Friday, 2-for-4 Saturday, and not getting an official at-bat on Sunday after being walked three times and hitting an RBI sac fly.
Taking the mound for the Lumberjacks Tuesday afternoon is Jacob Leonhardt. He has a 7.82 ERA in seven appearances for SFA. He currently holds an 0-1 record. In 12.2 innings pitched, he's struck out 11 and walked only seven. Leonhardt will be making his third start this season.
Last season, SFA lost both contests against Dallas Baptist. DBU took a 4-7 win on Feb. 21, 2006 in Dallas before coming to Nacogdoches and taking the 8-3 victory.
The Lumberjacks will travel to Dallas for part two of the home-and-home series on April 17.
