Handel Named First Team All-SLC

FRISCO, Texas – Senior designated hitter Mackenzie Handel was named first team All-Southland Conference for the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack baseball team, announced Monday morning by the league office.
Handel enjoyed a steady season at the plate for SFA in his final campaign, ranking among the conference and team leaders in several offensive categories. The native of Chandler, Ariz., finished tied for the league mark in home runs (10), third in both RBI (43) and walks (36), sixth in slugging percentage (.500) and tied for seventh in total bases (100). His homer mark finished the regular season tied for 28th in the nation.
For the ‘Jacks, Handel led the team in on-base percentage (.408), also tying for the top mark in both hits (60) and runs (31). Appearing in all 55 games, starting all but one contest, Handel finished second in batting average (.300) and tied for the same spot in doubles (10).
Sanchez finished the season with a .280 batting average, totaling seven doubles, one triple, one home run, along with 31 runs scored and 21 RBI. He finished the season with a .280/.336/.347 split.
Mangham, a transfer from Temple Junior College, finished his first season at SFA with a 6-5 record. Mangham ranked ninth in the Southland in ERA (2.83), leading the team in innings pitched (86.0) and strikeouts (70) across 15 appearanced and 13 starts.
