NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Now that the school year is over, and before we begin the 2013-14 academic year, SFA athletics wanted to take a look back at the Top 25 Moments from the 2012-13 season.
Playing underneath stadium lights for the first time since 1995, senior starting pitcher Chase Greening and the Lumberjacks made their March 8 game against Arlington Baptist even more special with the hurler setting a single-game school record 17 strikeouts in an 18-0 victory.
Greening set down a string of 14 straight hitters at one point and walked just one batter, while also eclipsing his previous career high of eight punch outs set in 2012 against South Alabama. Greening allowed just one hit in the final three frames and struck out the side in the ninth to complete his second career complete game.
Offensively, SFA had 24 hits and fell just one hit short of tying the single-game record at SFA. Four Lumberjacks - Matthew Dickey, Freddy Villalobos, Brett Thornell and Michael Ruiz - all had three hits apiece, and 14 individuals picked up at least one base knock.
