SFA To Conclude Fall Workouts This Weekend

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The `Jacks still have nearly four months until the start of the 2010 season, but they have still been busy this fall and will bring fall practice to a conclusion this weekend with the Fall World Series and the program's first alumni game, with everything kicking off Thursday afternoon.
The Lumberjacks will split into purple and white teams with three games scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Former Lumberjacks will be on hand Saturday and Sunday with a golf outing scheduled Saturday morning and the alumni game scheduled to begin at noon on Sunday at Jaycees Field.
"It's going to be a fun weekend all the way around," head coach Johnny Cardenas said. "The guy have been working hard all fall and now it's time to have some fun along the way."
Jared West will get the start in the first game, with his opposing pitcher still to be determined. Friday's game will pit former Cisco Junior College right-handers Justin Braddock and Brad Oates against one another before Zack Taylor and Brett Rogers square off in the Saturday finale.
Following Sunday's alumni game the team will move onto its fall banquet at CC's Smokehouse with all former players invited to attend. Cost for the banquet for attendees will be $10.

The 'Jacks return 10 letterwinners from a year ago, including six pitchers and four position players. However, this will be the first chance Lumberjack fans have to get a look at 18 newcomers to this years team.
