SFA Holds Off UTSA

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Lumberjacks got 19 points from Antonio Bostic and never trailed, taking a 59-51 win over UTSA on Saturday afternoon at the Convocation Center.
The `Jacks (14-10, 8-3 SLC) opened the game on a 14-3 run and led by as much as 15 at the break before holding on in the final minutes to win for the fourth consecutive time in San Antonio and avenge a loss to UTSA (15-10, 7-4 SLC) earlier in the season in Nacogdoches.
Darius Gardner joined Bostic in double figures with 10 points and four assists, but also canned two three-point buckets in the final two minutes of the game to keep the `Runners at bay. In all SFA tied a season high with eight three-pointers, led by three apiece from Gardner and Bostic.
Jonathan King led SFA on the glass with eight rebounds for the second consecutive game, adding eight points as well. Bostic hauled in five boards and had four assists in playing the entire game for the third time in his last six games.
SFA forced 14 Roadrunner turnovers in the first half on its way to a 34-19 lead behind 13 points from Bostic, but UTSA opened the second half with a 9-2 run that quickly cut the Lumberjack lead to single digits; however, SFA had answers of its own throughout the final period and held a four-point lead with under three minutes to play before Gardner's shots provided just enough cushion to keep UTSA away.
The Lumberjacks will look to make it three in a row on Wednesday when it hosts league-leading UT-Arlington at William R. Johnson Coliseum.
