NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks received their draw for the 2013 BracketBusters game on Monday, learning they will travel to Long Beach State for a game on Feb. 22 to be televised on ESPNU.
The game is scheduled to tip at 8:00 p.m. CT from The Pyramid in Long Beach.
The 49ers are 13-8 on the season, but are off to a 9-1 start in the Big West, including winning each of their last eight games. Four of Long Beach's losses have come against teams not currently ranked in the AP Top 25, not including USC and North Carolina.
They average 68.9 points per game and are led by guard James Ennis, who is hitting 38 percent of his three-point tries and averaging 17.2 points per game.
Long Beach State is just a year removed from a 25-9 season in which it earned a 12-seed in the NCAA Tournament after capturing both the Big West Conference championship and tournament title.
SFA and Long Beach State have met twice before with the 49ers taking each matchup; however, the teams have not met since a 70-62 Long Beach win in Nacogdoches in 1992.
SFA has played in the BracketBusters twice before, most recently last season when the `Jacks knocked off High Point, 69-62, at William R. Johnson Coliseum. The other was in the 2006 season when SFA traveled to Louisiana-Lafayette and dropped a narrow 66-63 decision to the Ragin' Cajuns.
The 11th annual BracketBusters is a three-day men's college basketball event pitting potential NCAA Championship hopefuls against each other Feb. 22-23. As part of the agreement, all home teams will play a return game at the home facility of their opponent in November or December of the 2013-14 season.
