Oct. 11, 2013
HOUSTON, Texas – Stephen F. Austin head men’s basketball coach Brad Underwood was in Houston Wednesday afternoon to appear on SportsTalk Live with host Kevin Eschenfelder. The two spent time talking about the success of the Lumberjack basketball program, Underwood’s journey to Nacogdoches and his upcoming first season at the helm.
Underwood became the 11th head coach in SFA men’s basketball history on Aug. 23, 2013. He came to SFA after an extensive coaching career that includes 27 years in the coaching profession, spending the last two seasons as an associate head coach at both South Carolina and Kansas State with current Gamecock head coach Frank Martin. In 2013, he helped USC reel in an incoming recruiting class ranked in the national top 40 by ESPN.com. He is credited with playing a major role in helping to revitalize the Kansas State program, which posted 20-win campaigns and advanced to the postseason - including four trips to the NCAA Tournament - during all six of his seasons at KSU.
Underwood inherits a team that won a school-record 27 games in a 27-5 campaign in 2012-13 and their third Southland Conference title.
