NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin (3-1), hot off its come-from-behind 80-73 overtime win at Marshall, will be looking run its record to 4-1 under first-year head coach Brad Underwood when the Lumberjacks play their second game of the Roundball Showcase. The `Jacks will face East Tennessee State Saturday, Nov. 23, at 3:00 p.m. in Johnson City, TN. The game inside the Freedom Hall Civic Center will be the first meetings between the opposing schools.
East Tennessee State (1-4) is coming off of an 89-75 victory over Samford inside the Freedom Hall Civic Center, its first of the season. The "home game" was the first time the Buccaneers played inside the arena in 12 years. Senior forward Kinard Gadsden-Gilliard collected a double-double performance and sophomore forward Lester Wilson scored team-high 20 points, as ETSU overcame a seven-point, second-half deficit.
The Last Time Out
Junior Jacob Parker recorded a career-high 31 points and 11 rebounds in the first double-double of his career, as the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack basketball team took down Marshall 80-73 in overtime Thursday night inside the Cam Henderson Center as part of the First Bank and Trust Company Roundball Showcase.
Parker's 31 points, as part of his double-double, marks the first time a `Jack has scored 30 points or more since Jereal Scott put up 30 against Wiley College (12/17/11). The native of Bixby, Okla., was 12-of-15 from the floor, while making all three attempts from beyond the arc and four of his five free throws. Parker was one of three SFA players to score in double-figures, joined by senior Nikola Gajic (13) and sophomore Thomas Walkup (10).
SFA, after a four-game road stretch, will return home for its third and final game of the Roundball Showcase. The `Jacks will host Samford face East Tennessee State Tuesday, Nov. 26, at 7:00 p.m. inside William R. Johnson Coliseum in the will be the first meetings between the two schools.
