NACOGDCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin (3-2), coming off a 66-58 loss at East Tennessee State, will host Samford in its final game of the Roundball Showcase Tuesday, Nov. 26, at 7:00 p.m. inside William R. Johnson Coliseum. The Tuesday night tilt is the first home game for the Lumberjacks since their season opener against UT-Tyler (Nov. 8) and will also represent the first meetings between the opposing schools.
Samford (1-5) will complete its longest road stretch in over 26 years Tuesday as the Bulldogs square off against SFA. SU enters the contest in the midst of a six-game road stretch. Since defeating Martin Methodist on Nov. 8, the Bulldogs have dropped consecutive road games at UT-Arlington, then No. 23 Indiana, ULM, ETSU and WKU. Samford's current road trip is the longest in school history since a similar six-game stretch from Jan. 28 - Feb. 8, 1988.
The Last Time Out
Junior Jacob Parker recorded his second consecutive double-double performance, but the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack basketball team was unable to maintain pace with East Tennessee State in a 66-58 loss Saturday afternoon inside the Freedom Hall Civic Center as part of the First Bank and Trust Company Roundball Showcase.
The double-double is the third of the season for both Parker and SFA. The native of Bixby, Okla., finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds in the loss to the Buccaneers (2-4). Parker finished 8-of-14 from the field and one-for-three beyond the arc, while making both of his free throws in 33 minutes played. The 12 rebounds is a career-high for the forward, breaking his previous mark of 11 set one game prior at Marshall (Nov. 21).
SFA will retake the road for a pair of games in North Carolina. The `Jacks will close out the month of November at UNC-Wilmington on Friday, Nov. 29, at 6:00 p.m., before traveling to High Point (Dec. 1).
Series vs. SU: 0-0, First-ever meeting
Tuesday's game against Samford will be the first-ever meeting between SFA and the Bulldogs.
