NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack basketball team will try to rebound from consecutive road losses on Saturday, when the `Jacks host Texas College in the opener of a three-game home stand. The game against the Steers is set for a 6 p.m. start from the William R. Johnson Coliseum. The game will be streamed live online via SFA All-Access and can be heard online at Yahoo.com.

The Lumberjacks enter the contest with a 1-2 record after dropping back-to-back road decisions at Texas A&M and Louisiana-Monroe. SFA was in the hunt for a win nearly the full 40 minutes against Texas A&M before the Aggies pulled away with a strong showing at the foul line late for a 55-48 victory.

In Tuesday's loss against the Warhawks, the Lumberjacks led from the 14:25 mark of the first half until ULM set the final 60-58 margin with a 15-foot jumper as time expired. The Warhawks had tied the game at 58 on a long 3-pointer with 1.8 seconds left.

This marks the first time since the 2006-07 season for SFA to drop consecutive games in non-conference play. That year, the `Jacks opened with a home win over San Diego before losing back-to-back contests at TCU and Arkansas.

Senior forward Josh Alexander leads the Lumberjacks in scoring with 18.7 points per game. Classmate Matt Kingsley's 13.0 points per game average is second on the squad.

Defensively, SFA's 51.0 points per game allowed lead the Southland Conference. Despite the two losses, the `Jacks have done a solid job of shutting down the opposition's primary scorers in each of their last two games. A&M's Josh Carter was coming off a 23-point performance against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, but SFA held him to nine points, with all but two of those coming at the free throw stripe. ULM's Jarvis Hill came into Tuesday's game averaging 19.7 points per contest. The `Jacks limited him to three points on 1-of-8 shooting before he fouled out late in the second half.

Following Saturday's game against Texas College, the Lumberjacks will take on Jackson State Tuesday, as part of a home doubleheader with the SFA women's team. That game is set for a 5:30 p.m. tip. The `Jacks wrap up the home stand the following Saturday when they host Texas Wesleyan. After concluding the three-game set, SFA will open a season-long five-game road swing.
