Walker Named Southland Conference POW

FRISCO, Texas - Stephen F. Austin senior guard Deshaunt Walker has been named the Southland Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Walker led the Lumberjacks with 22 points in 22 minutes off the bench in a 87-53 statement road victory at North Texas on Sunday afternoon inside the Super Pit. The senior from Silver Springs, Md. (Spring Brook H.S.) was an efficient 7-of-9 from the field, including 5-of-7 from beyond the arc, and made all three of his free throws. He finished two points shy of his career-high while also adding three assists and a steal in propelling SFA to its first win over the Mean Green and first one on the road the since the 1994-95 season.
Through 11 games, Walker is averaging 11.3 points off the bench and 2.0 rebounds per game.
The weekly honor is the first of Walker's career and comes one week after fellow senior Desmond Haymon earned the nod from the SLC. The `Jacks have won three in total thus far this season, with junior Jacob Parker capturing the first.
Walker and SFA now prepare to open a four-game homestand, beginning with a 6:00 p.m. tip with Elmhurst on Saturday, December 21, inside William R. Johnson Coliseum.
