Matt Kubik is in his second season as SFA’s offensive coordinator, working primarily with the ‘Jacks’ quarterbacks.
In his first season overseeing the SFA offense, the Lumberjacks averaged 32.7 points and 460.8 yards of total offense per game, scoring at least 30 points in eight games in 2014. Under Kubik’s guidance, quarterback Zach Conque earned SLC Newcomer of the Year honors, accounting for over 3,300 yards of total offense and 29 touchdowns.
Kubik comes to Nacogdoches after spending the past three seasons as the wide receivers coach at Central Arkansas, working along side coach Conque. Kubik went to UCA after spending four seasons at Southland rival Northwestern State, serving as both the wide receivers and running backs coach for the Demons.
Kubik began his coaching career at Catholic High School in Baton Rouge, La. in 2006, working with the wide receivers. Kubik was a two-year starter at quarterback at Louisiana Tech, throwing for over 4,000 yards and 28 touchdowns during his career and was named the team’s offensive MVP as a senior, earning his degree in finance in 2005. He has also been a member of the Manning Passing Academy, the annual quarterback camp hosted by the Manning family.
Kubik married his wife, Hannah, in the spring of 2014.
