    SFA's Sandy Miller Announces Retirement

    Two-time Hall of Fame trainer Sandy Miller steps down after 31 years

    Now in his 25th season, Miller oversees a comprehensive athletic training program, which includes preparing students for careers as athletic trainers.

    A native of Larned, Kan., Miller came to SFA in 1981 after spending five seasons as head athletic trainer at Northwest Missouri State.

    Miller is a member of the board of directors of the National Athletic Trainer's Association. He served on the athletic training staff at the 1990 Goodwill Games and the U.S. Olympic Training Center, as well as serving as the athletic trainer for USA Track & Field at the World Championships in Sweden in 1995. He also represented Texas and Arkansas as district director for the National Athletic Trainers Association. In 1999, Miller was honored as a Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer, one of 12 in the country, by the National Athletic Trainer's Association.

    Miller also is a member of the Southwest Athletic Trainer's Association Hall of Fame.

    He received his bachelor's degree from Nebraska in 1972 and his master's degree from Northwest Missouri State.

    Miller and his wife Madalene are the parents of two sons, Justin (29), and Doug (26).
