Jefferson Signs with Texans
May 10, 2013
Two-time All-America defensive end Willie Jefferson has signed a free agent contract with the Houston Texans announced team officials Friday morning. Jefferson becomes the third Lumberjack to sign with an NFL franchise this season.
The Beaumont, Texas native, transferred to SFA from Baylor prior to the 2011 season and had an immediate impact. Moving from the offensive side of the ball to defensive end, Jefferson sparked a defense that led the nation in sacks. He led the Southland Conference, and finished fourth nationally with 15 sacks on his way to being named SLC Newcomer of the Year, and earning All-America honors from numerous publications.
A two-time league defensive player of the week selection, Jefferson set the school, and conference single-game sack records during his senior season. He finished his career with 26.5 tackles for losses, and 23 career sacks.
A 2012 first-team All-SLC selection, Jefferson added one final All-America honor as a senior. He received College Sports Journal All-America honors, as well as being named CFPA FCS Elite Defensive Performer.
