Robinson Receives Preseason All-America Attention
July 13, 2013
Junior defensive end Darren Robinson has been named to the 2013 Beyond Sports Network Preseason All-America team announced publication officials Saturday afternoon. Robinson enters the 2013 campaign as a third-team selection.
Robinson was one of the top comeback players in the nation last season. Having to sit out the 2011 campaign due to injuries, Robinson recorded his best season at SFA in 2012. The Dallas native earned first-team All-Southland Conference honors after finishing among the league's top 10 in tackles for losses (11.5), and second in the league in sacks (7.5).
Robinson recorded 31 total tackles, in addition to his stops behind the line of scrimmage. He was also credited with two forced fumbles, two recovered fumbles and a pass break up. He enters the 2013 season with nearly 20 tackles for losses, and nine sacks in his career.
Robinson made a habit of saving his best for the toughest competition last season. Against a top-10 foe on the road at Montana State, Robinson recorded three tackles, including two that went for losses. In the upset victory over Central Arkansas, he also had three stops including two sacks.
The Lumberjacks are slated to open preseason camp Monday, Aug. 5th.
