`Jacks to be Aired Twice on SLC-TV Network
July 22, 2008
HOUSTON - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team will be aired twice on the newly formed Southland Conference Television Network announced league officials at the 2008 SLC Media Kickoff in Houston, Texas Tuesday morning. The `Jacks will appear on the network in consecutive weeks when they host Texas State Saturday, Oct. 25, followed by the annual "Battle of the Piney Woods" Saturday, Nov. 1, in Huntsville, Texas. The start times for both games have been moved to 2 p.m. The SLC-TV Network is a new venture by the league which debuts with over 35 broadcasts on television stations and cable systems in the league's three-state geographic region. The package will consist of a nine-game schedule, which will be followed by a 16-game basketball schedule including five games from the 2009 SLC Championship tournament. The broadcast schedule for the 2008-09 basketball season had not been released at press time. In addition to the football and basketball package, the SLC also plans on televising the league finals of the 2008 volleyball tournament and 2009 baseball tournament. Also planned are nine episodes of a new 30-minute magazine show, "Inside the Southland Conference," which will feature stories and interviews with league coaches, administrators and student-athletes. "Inside the Southland Conference" debuts on network affiliate stations in September and will continue with new episodes through May 2009. SFA can potentially have a third game televised on the network. The league has left the ninth game to be determined based on how the 2008 league race shapes up. The Lumberjacks kickoff the 2008 season Saturday, Aug. 30, against Langston. The game against the Lions is slated to begin at 6 p.m. from Homer Bryce Stadium. -SFA- |
