The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team took a day off from practice, after their second scrimmage of preseason camp. SFA spent the day in meetings before breaking for team, and individual pictures at Homer Bryce Stadium Sunday afternoon. Following the photo session, the Lumberjacks closed out the day in position meetings.
The Lumberjacks took to the field Saturday evening for their second scrimmage of camp. The purple and white scrimmage saw the first-team unit record an impressive 49-7 victory over the second-teamers. Sophomore quarterback Jeremy Moses who completed 18-of-25 (72 percent) passes for 206 yards and three touchdowns. Senior Tyrell Williams led all SFA receivers with seven catches for 123 yards and two touchdowns. Junior Duane Brooks hauled in six passes for 144 yards and two scores.
The Lumberjack defense provided some game-changing performances throughout the night picking off three passes and forcing a fumble. Converted tight end Andy Anderson led the defense with seven tackles, while junior Tim Knicky made four stops, including three sacks.
Sophomore linebacker Jabara Williams had the biggest highlight of the evening picking off a pass and scampering 59 yards for the touchdown. He finished the game with five tackles.
The Lumberjacks return to the practice field Monday for a two-a-day session. SFA will hit the practice field at 8 a.m., and return at 7 p.m. to close out the day.
