Senior running back Derrick Blaylock had 25 carries and 218 yards Staurday night as the Lumberjacks rolled over Texas A&M-Commerce 48-21 in front of 10,048 fans at Homer Bryce Stadium. Blaylock also scored three touchdowns on the night with runs of 55, 38 and 20 yards. As a team, the 'Jacks rolled up 298 yards of rushing offense, adding another 132 through the air.
Travis Fallon, a senior from Corpus Christi Calallen, filling in for the injured Wes Pate connected on 12 of 19 passes for 111 yards and one touchdown, that a seven yard strike to Lawrence Hamilton for the 'Jacks first score of the night.
The Lumberjack defense and special teams also figured in the ball game, as safety David Crocker,a freshman from Killeen, picked off an A&M-Commerce pass in the fourth quarter and returned it 34-yards for a touchdown. Just over a minute later, the 'Jacks blocked a Lion punt and freshman Nick Trotter scooped up the ball and returned it 10-yards for the final Lumberjack score of the night.
SFA goes on the road this week as they travel to Ruston, Louisiana to take on Louisiana Tech. The Bulldogs lost to Penn State Saturday 67-7. Gametime is set for 6:00 p.m.
