Sophomore running back Taylor Bunch has been named the Southland Football League's Offensive Player of the Week following his 113-yard rushing performance against Louisiana Tech Saturday night. The Clinton, Louisiana transfer carried 21 times for 113 yards and also added two receptions for 32-yards and one touchdown. The touchdown came with 10 seconds remaining in regulation play to send the game to the extra period.
Bunch came off the bench for the injured Derrick Blaylock to start the second quarter.
The 'Jacks also claimed the Special Teams Player of the Week award this week as true freshman kicker Ryan Rossner was named the SFL Player of the Week. Rossner was four for four on extra point attempts and also connected on two of three field goals in the game against Tech. Rossner scored the game's first points and the game's last points with field goals.
Rossner connected from 37 yards to start the Lumberjacks scoring and hit the 35-yarder in the second overtime period to give SFA the win. Rossner is now three for five on field goal attempts for the season, and 15 for 16 on extra points.
SFA travels to Northern Iowa this week to take on the Panthers Saturday at 4:05 p.m.
