'Jacks Lose Defensive Battle to Troy State 6-0

    Nov. 4, 2000

In a game in which the Lumberjack defensive unit held Troy State to only six points, the 'Jacks couldn't counter with a score of their own as they fell to Troy State 6-0 on an overcast afternoon at Homer Bryce Stadium.

Statistically, the game was almost dead even as each team was held to less than 300 yards of total offense, and neither team managed to score a touchdown. SFA outgained Troy State 296-286 in total offense, but never managed to get the ball inside the Troy State 20-yard line.

Derrick Blaylock carried the ball 17 times for 99 yards to lead the SFA ground attack, while Demontray Carter led the way for Troy State with 94 yards on 25 carries.

Lawrence Tynes connected on field goals of 33 and 46 yards for the game's only scores.

Troy State led 3-0 at the half and added another field goal with just over three minutes to play to extend their lead to 6-0.

The 'Jacks return to the road next week as they travel to San Marcos to take on Southwest Texas in a 2:00 kick.
